Robert James Hobbs was born on February 15, 1950 in Sioux City, Iowa to the late James Jr. and Josephine (Baker) Hobbs. He grew up in Moville, Iowa and attended Climbing Hill High School, graduating in 1968. Robert married the love of his life Shirley Rozofsky on July 18, 1968 in Moville, IA. Their marriage blessed them with three beautiful children, Laci, Chad, and Gia. Shortly after marriage, Robert was called to serve his country in the United States Army in the Vietnam War. In 1970, Robert was honorably discharged and returned to New Jersey, where he and Shirley resided until 1972. Robert, Shirley and the children then moved to Windom, MN. Robert was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Robert worked most of his life as a direct caretaker for people with special needs. He worked 22 years in this field, retiring in 2012. Robert loved working in this field and it brought him much joy being able to help people. Robert had many hobbies. With his mechanical mind, he liked to tinker on almost anything to see if he could make it run just a little better. He enjoyed building models, such as balsa airplanes. He also enjoyed embroidery and crocheting. Robert would also record television shows and then edit the commercials out, so he never had to watch commercials! He loved music, movies, card games, painting and taking walks. Robert is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Hobbs of Windom; children Laci Balfour of Minneapolis, Chad Hobbs of Windom, and Gia (Ron) Gunerius of Andover; granddaughter Jordan (Kaitlin) Gunerius; brother Michael (Melanie) Hobbs of Morningside. Robert is preceded in death by his parents. Blessed be the memory of Robert James Hobbs.
