Robert John "Bob" Munning was born on June 30, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York, to Adolf and Martha Josephine (Klaymeier) Munning. Bob was baptized at the Dutch Reformed Church in Brooklyn, NY. He attended school in Brooklyn and St. Petersburg, FL. Bob served in the United States Navy from 1960-1963. On February 8, 1962, Bob married Janet Elaine Bentson in Brooklyn, NY. Following their nuptials, the couple moved to Windom where they made their home. They were married for 58 years. Jan passed away on June 25, 2020. Bob was employed at the US Postal Service. When asked how long he worked at the Post Office, Bob would say he was employed there for 48 years, but he only worked there for 15 minutes and it wasn't all at once. Bob enjoyed camping, fishing, wood working, crossword puzzles, music and spending time with family. He was a Cub and Boy Scout Leader and a softball coach. Bob is survived by his children, Michael (Jolene) Munning of Mt. Lake, MN; Cathy (John) Martinsen of Windom; Kristin (Daniel) Manee of Rolla, MO; six grandchildren, Jonn (Jenna Rike) Munning, Benjamin (Kwetana Smith) Munning, Eric Munning, Amanda Martinsen, Harlan Munning and Ian Martinsen; two great-grandchildren, Rose Eden Munning and Sally Elaine Munning; one brother-in-law, Bill Bentson of Halstead, MN; and one sister-in-law, Diane Bentson of Inver Grove Heights, MN. Bob is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janet; one brother, Jim Munning; one sister, Edna Haffner; one brother-in-law, Bob Bentson; and two sisters-in-law, Carol Bentson and Pat Munning.
