Robert George Oltmans, 85, of Windom, Minnesota passed away on August 30, 2026 in Park Rapids, Minnesota.

Robert was born on January 29, 1941, in Windom to George and Ella (Jacobsen) Oltmans. He attended String Lake Country School before graduating from Windom High School in 1958.

On May 26, 1963, Robert was united in marriage to the love of his life, Joyce Spessard in Round Lake MN. Together they shared 63 years of marriage and built a life centered around their family.

Robert was a lifelong member of The Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom, where he faithfully served his church as both a trustee and usher. He was also dedicated to his community and served as a board member of Prairieland Cooperative.

Robert farmed his entire life on the farm that his father started west of Windom, carrying a lifelong connection to the land and the agricultural community he called home. Those who knew Bob well knew there were two sides to him. When he was at home on the farm, it was serious business- when it was time to work, it was time to work. But once Bob left the farm for vacation, "Vacation Bob" came to life. Away from the farm, his quiet demeanor gave way to a more outgoing side. He enjoyed meeting people, striking up conversations, and making new friends wherever he went. His vacations gave his family the opportunity to see a different side of Bob, one who relaxed, enjoyed the moment, and never seemed to meet a stranger.

Robert enjoyed boating and water skiing, fishing, traveling in his RV, and playing cards. In 2018, Robert and Joyce started spending their summers on Little Mantrap Lake in Park Rapids meeting many new friends. Above all, he loved spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in their many activities. His grandchildren were truly the joy of his life.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Joyce Oltmans; his children, Lorie (Dave) Folsom of Hornick, Iowa; Scott (Kerri) Oltmans, of Windom; and Travis (Beth) Oltmans of Owatonna; his brother George (Pam) Oltmans; grandchildren, Danielle and Michael Searles, Michael and Kayla Folsom, Hunter and Jayden Folsom, Jackson and Kaitlyn Oltmans, Evan, Madelyn and Chloe Oltmans, Carter, Makenzie, and Brody Oltmans; great grandchildren, DK, Deklan, Dahlia, and Dane Folsom, Hazely and Noah Searles, Makenna and Harper Oltmans

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ella Oltmans; his father- and mother-in-law, Lloyd and Ruth Spessard; and his brothers-in-law, Jack and Joe Spessard.
