Rodger Robert
Bosshart
Aug 11, 1935 — Mar 17, 2025
A Celebration of Life Service to honor the life and legacy of Rodger Bosshart, age 89, of Jackson, will be held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jackson on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 1 PM with a time of visitation and gathering from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the church. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #130 and VFW Post #900 both of Jackson. Burial will be at Miller Cemetery in rural Jackson.
Rodger was born on August 11, 1935, in Boyceville Wisconsin, the son of Max and Florence (Tainter) Bosshart. Rodger and his family moved to Truman, MN in 1936 where he attended school, played sports, met the love of his life, Eunice Culbertson, and graduated in 1953. Rodger joined the Navy in 1953, was a proud member of the Seabees and was honorably discharged in 1961. He was also an active member of the National Guard for many years. He was united in marriage to Eunice on February 3, 1957, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Lewisville. This union was blessed with seven children. After their marriage they spent the summers in Truman and Lewisville and in Brookings, South Dakota during the school year while Rodger went on to graduate in 1960 from South Dakota State College. He then earned his master's degree in 1961. Rodger and Eunice moved to California where he taught school and coached basketball and football from 1961-1966. They moved back to Truman so Rodger could work construction in the family business before settling in Jackson in 1967, where he taught school and coached football and track & field before retiring in 1999.
Rodger enjoyed his many years of teaching and coaching and loved running into former students and athletes of his so he could catch up with them. After retirement, Rodger enjoyed his multiple daily walks around town, and if you ever ran into him, you were sure to walk away with a story, a shared memory, a laugh, and perhaps a life lesson. He was an avid reader who enjoyed spending time at the library or giving away books to his kids and grandchildren who loved to read "like him". Rodger enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and friends. He was an avid coin collector, enjoyed watching a great western, donating blood to the Red Cross, playing cards, and watching sports. He was a longtime member (since 1970) of the Jackson Lions Club and later the Truman Lions Club where he enjoyed helping at community events, trading pins at conventions or through the mail and making many friends along the way. Rodger was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Jackson.
