Obituary

Roger Jerome Anderson was born on August 8, 1934 in Wadena, Minnesota. He received his education in the Sebeka Public Schools. Roger enlisted in the United States Army from 1954-1956 and served in Okinawa before being honorably discharged and returning to Sebeka to help his dad on the farm due to his father's failing health. On August 28, 1965, Roger was united in marriage to Marlene Bimberg at Grace Lutheran Church in Sebeka, Minnesota. After marriage, they lived on their farm west of Sebeka. In 1972 they bought a farm north of Heron Lake, Minnesota where they continued to raise their family, farm and produce hogs. Through the years, Roger was a loving husband and father who worked hard and enjoyed his time on the farm. In 1999, they moved to Heron Lake to help care for Les Leopold. Roger and Marlene developed a special friendship with Les during their time together. They retired in 2006 and moved to Windom. Roger moved to Valley View Assisted Living (Lakefield) in November of 2015 and to the Colonial Manor Nursing Home (Lakefield) in the early part of 2018. Roger passed away there on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the age of 83 years. Roger was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom and a former member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Okabena, Minnesota. He had many enjoyments in life which included square dancing (Boots N Bows), spending time at the family cabin by Perham, MN and most of all enjoyed time with family and friends. Roger is survived by his children Mary (Steve) Den Herder of Cleveland, MN; Dean (Brenda) Anderson of Jackson, MN; Janna Thomas of Lakefield, MN; Daniel (Korrie) Anderson of Hartley, Iowa; 8 grandchildren, Grant (Esther), Makayla (Robert), Amy, Rachel, Jared, Sarah, Stella and Kora; one sister, Adelia Bilyeu of Story City, IA; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
