Obituary

Roger Wayne Lovell was born on September 7, 1934, to the late Walter and Beatrice Lovell in Slayton, Minnesota. Roger graduated high school from Balaton High School in 1952. After high school, Roger joined the U.S Army and was honorably discharged in 1955. Roger was united in marriage to Marie Adkins on August 29, 1956. Together, they are blessed with 4 children, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

After the Army, Roger started his career in the grocery store business. He worked in the grocery industry for 62 years until retiring in 2017 at the age of 83. Roger was a longtime member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church holding offices and volunteering as a church usher as well as serving on the church council in his earlier years. Roger spent many years volunteering for different committees and projects.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Marie Lovell; 4 children; Debra Lovell of Fishersville, VA; Colleen Steenstra (Loren) of Jackson, MN; David Lovell (Sue) of Jackson, MN; Julie Jorgensen (Jim) of Fairmont, MN; 5 grandchildren; Josh Gruhlke (Nicole), Kyle Gruhlke (Sonja), Logan Jorgensen (Maisy), Hunter Jorgensen (friend Kassidy), and Sophia Lovell; 2 great grandchildren, Chase and Hailee Gruhlke; 2 siblings; Minerva Verdoes of Mesa, AZ; Darwin Lovell of Storden, MN.

Roger is proceeded in death by his parents; Walter and Beatrice Lovell; brothers Walter, Harold, Rollie, Vernon, and Daryl Dean; sisters; Sylvia Erickson, Donna Sundquist, Betty Swan, Deanna Bahn, and Marie Eich.

Roger's favorite motto in the store was always, "If I won't buy, it shouldn't be for sale!" in lieu of flowers, send memorials to Temperance Ridge, UHD Hospice or Our Saviors Lutheran Church.

A Celebration of Life Service for Roger Lovell, age 87 of Jackson will be held at 11 AM on Monday, September 12th at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Jackson with Pastor Ted Carnahan officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery in Jackson with full military honors provided.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 12th from 10 to 11 AM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Jackson.
