Obituary

Roger R. Polzin, 70, of Jeffers, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 31st, 2021 after a long battle with cancer since July of 2020. Roger was born November 25, 1950 to Willie and Lillian (Willaby) Polzin in Springfield, Minnesota. Roger was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church of Jeffers. He attended school in Jeffers, where he enjoyed playing football during his high school career. On November 18, 1972, Roger married Donna Will at Trinity Lutheran and together raised their three children. Roger was employed with New Vision Co-Op for 36 years, driving Semi trucks, before his retirement in 2017. He genuinely enjoyed his time visiting and assisting farmers across the region. In his spare time, Roger was a volunteer fireman in Jeffers for 20 years. Roger was a true family man and enjoyed every minute of his spare time with those who were close to his heart. Roger enjoyed camping with his family over the years and spent his winters with his wife, Donna, in Kingman, Arizona, since his retirement. Roger enjoyed vacations with family and traveled to many places throughout his life. Roger was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed fishing trips to Lake of the Woods and several hunting trips over the years with his son Terry, grandchildren, family, and friends. Roger made friends everywhere he went. He was a man who could never sit still and always found his way to lend a helping hand. Roger enjoyed conversations with anyone he encountered and crack a good joke. Roger loved cooking a good meal for family gatherings and loved his sweets of candy and baked goods. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Donna; children, Margo Wright of Jeffers; Becky (Paul) Caswell of Spencer, IA; and Terry (Savannah) Polzin of Fort Ripley; grandchildren, Dustin Ahlers, Eric Ahlers, and Nicholas (Susan) Jurgens; Gage (Kali) Caswell; and Tegan and Tristan Polzin; great-grandchildren, Brendon Lensing and Kellen Jurgens; siblings, Carolyn (Harry) Michel and Rick Polzin; with many dear friends and relatives. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Chase Caswell; siblings, Willy, Jr. and Randy (Elaine) Polzin.
