Ronald Vernon Flatgard was born in Windom to the late Ivan and Aveline (Nelson) Flatgard on January 4, 1931. He was baptized and later confirmed into the Christian faith. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1949.
After graduation, Ronald met Iris Galer and the two were united in marriage on June 26, 1954, in Windom. Ronald was then drafted into the United States Army, where he served two years. He was honorably discharged in 1956 and then returned to their farm home in Delafield.
Ronald farmed for most of his life and enjoyed working the land. He was very independent but would help anyone that needed it. He didn't tell many jokes, but he did appreciate a good laugh from time to time. Ronald was very down to earth and was a practical man.
Ronald enjoyed hunting, playing pool, cards, farming, and visiting with family and friends. He was a member of Pheasant Forever, Sons of Norway, Deer Hunters Association, Cottonwood Cattleman, and the Delafield Town Board. He loved spending time at his cabin in Northern Minnesota deer hunting with family and friends. He was also a missionary and spent time in Africa helping people get good wells for clean water and spreading the word of the Lord.
Ronald Flatgard passed away on May 16, 2024, in his home in rural Jackson, Minnesota.
Ronald is survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Aveline, wife, Iris, sister, LaVonne Corbin, brother-in-law, Allen Corbin and special friends, Lois Jeffrey and Wilma Tasler.
Blessed be the memory of Ronald Vernon Flatgard
