Rosella Friesen, the daughter of Henry and Tina Krahn was born June 12, 1935, in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. The second oldest of 5 children (Arnold, Richard, Deloris, and half-brother Willard).
A lifelong resident of Windom, she married Edwin Harold Friesen on October 3, 1961. Edwin passed away on January 28, 1971, after a battle with cancer, leaving Rosella to raise two young children. This was not an easy task considering she didn't drive. Rosella had to walk or rely on friends and family for rides. Rosella baby sat for many families over the years, worked as a custodian at Winfair Elementary School for a short time, was employed by the Sogge Home for many years, as well as custodian for the Evangelical Free Church.
Rosella was an active and faithful member of the Evangelical Free Church, devoting her life to Christ and her children. She lived in the same house for over 50 years, until a fall forced her to move to The Lodge assisted living in Mountain Lake, Minnesota, just as COVID was locking everything down. Rosella went into hospice at Sunset Cottage in Worthington, Minnesota, in 2023, where they took very good care of her, and she got better. After the Sunset Cottage she moved down to Bellevue, NE close to her son. Additional falls put her back into hospice.
Rosella was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edwin; and two brothers, Williard and Arnold. She is survived by her brother Richard Krahn and sister Deloris (Marvin) Regher; daughter Darlene (Eddy) Matthies; son Delbert (Cassandra) Friesen, grandchildren, Brianna (Jay) Goodwater, Brittany Lawson; and three great-grandchildren Austin, Caleb, and Brayden.
