Ruby Mae Bennett was born on December 28, 1928, in Jackson County, Minnesota to the late Charles and Mary (Schlager) Wolff.
On January 4, 1951, Ruby was united in marriage to Orlo Bennett at the Baptist parsonage in Windom. In 1956, they moved to Lakefield where they made their home. Ruby was a loving wife, a gem of a mom and a wonderful grandmother. She was a longtime, dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church in Lakefield and a longtime, active member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Lakefield. She had many enjoyments in life which included Tuesday and Thursday Card Club, casino bus trips, baking, listening to the radio and cd player, decorating for the different seasons, and was known for her "green thumb" because of her love of her flower garden.
Recently, Ruby became a resident at the Lakeview Assisted Living in Heron Lake. She passed away there peacefully on Monday, October 10th at the age of 93 years.
Ruby is survived by her four children, Gail Dick of Windom; Bonnie Hunter of Fairmont; David (Aggie) Bennett of Mt. Lake; Nancy Goodwin of Robbinsdale; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orlo Bennett; three brothers, Ray, Johnny and Jim Wolff; two sisters, Gladys Schmoll and Maryann Wilde.

A Celebration of Life Service for Ruby Bennett will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, October 17th at the First United Methodist Church in Lakefield, with Pastor Russ Steele officiating. Burial will follow at Lakefield Cemetery in Lakefield.
A time of visitation and gathering will be held Sunday, October 16th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom. Visitation will continue for one-hour prior to the service at the church on Monday, in Lakefield.
