Ruth Ann (Wendelsdorf) Garloff was born to the late Orville and Agnes (Jensen) Wendelsdorf on June 25, 1943, in Fairmont, Minnesota. She was the middle child with an older sister, Mary Lou, and a younger brother, Richard. Ruth Ann attended Country School through the eighth grade then Jackson High School.
Ruth Ann was united in marriage to Melvin Garloff on January 3, 1961, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jackson. Their union was blessed with four children, Susan, Robert, Debra, and Donald. She often said, "I quit high school, but seven years and four kids later, I got my high school diploma. Graduating as an Honorary Member with the class of 1968."
Together Melvin and Ruth Ann raised their family in the Jackson area. Ruth Ann was a loving mother and grandmother. She also enjoyed working outside of the home, dedicating 19 years to Sperry Univac until they closed. Then Ruth Ann decided to pursue to LPN degree and graduated from college in 2002. She began working for UFFDA, Heartland Image until 2018 when she retired. Ruth Ann had a passion for traveling.
Ruth Ann is survived by her four children, Susan Garloff of Mountain Lake, Robert (Valerie) Garloff of Jackson, Debra (Michael) Youngs of Garrison, ND, Donald (Tabitha) Garloff of Mountain Lake; numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, relatives, and beloved friends.
Ruth Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Agnes Wendelsdorf; brother, Richard Wendelsdorf; sister, Mary Lou Heuer; children's father, Melvin Garloff; many aunts, uncles, cousins and special friend, Joe Pribyl.
A Celebration of Life Service for Ruth Ann Garloff, age 80, of Jackson, will be held Monday, April 15, 2024, at 10:30 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Jackson with Pastor Ted Carnahan officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
A time of visitation and gathering will be held on Sunday, April 14th from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Jackson. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service, from 9:30 – 10:30 AM, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Jackson.
Ruth Ann Garloff passed away peacefully on April 10th at the Sanford Jackson Medical Center in Jackson, Minnesota.
