A Celebration of Life service to honor the life and legacy of Sheila (Kilen) Sigler, age 90, of Lakefield, will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lakefield on Friday, September 26th at 11:00 AM, with a time of visitation and gathering at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Belmont Lutheran Cemetery in rural Jackson.
Sheila Ann (Kilen) Sigler was born on July 1, 1935, to Agil O. and Helga O. (Nesterud) Kilen in Windom, Minnesota. She grew up in Lakefield, Minnesota and graduated from Lakefield High School.
Sheila's first marriage was blessed with two children, Dale and Neal. They lived in the Manson, Iowa area, where she also helped raise two nieces, Darla and Dawn. Sheila later married Virgil Sigler and was devoted to her family. She worked for many years in food service, where she was known for her warmth and hospitality. Sheila was active in the Manson community and Lutheran Church and was an Avon distributor for many years.
After living in the Manson area for more than 50 years, Sheila returned to Lakefield to be closer to family, after Virgil's passing. She found purpose and community as a member and the custodian of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where she worked for over five years.
As a resident of Valley View Assisted Living, Sheila was recently placed under hospice care. She passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of September 18, 2025.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Dale (Marilyn) Smith, Darla Birkey, Dawn (Dan) Fletcher; stepson, Tom (Linda) Sigler; stepdaughter, Bonnie Sigler; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, John (Mary) Kilen, Cynthia (Hennan) Rost; and brother-in-law, Les Rausenberger.
Sheila was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Sigler; son, Neal A. Smith; parents, Agil and Helga Kilen; siblings, Mary (Michael) Grandon, Kristene Kilen (Clint) Baumgard, Barbara Kilen Rausenberger, James Kilen, Susan Kilen (Irwin) Werner, and Helen Kilen (William) Gunst.
