A Celebration of Life Service to honor the life and legacy of Sheryl Hanson, age 76, of Lakefield, will be held Friday, September 18, 2026, at 1:00 PM at LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Jackson, with a time of visitation and gathering from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Burial will be in Lake Fremont Cemetery in Dunnell.

Sheryl Jean Anderson was born to Robert and Lois (Westcott) Anderson on September 10, 1949, in Fairmont, MN. Sheryl passed away on September 8, 2026, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, MN.

Sheryl was baptized and confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dunnell. She grew up in the Dunnell area and graduated from Sherburn-Dunnell High School in 1967. She then attended Mankato Commercial College.

Sheryl married Kenneth Hanson on June 22, 1968. Following their marriage, she worked at the Sherburn Advance Standard until 1970. She then dedicated her life to raising her three children, Tim, Nathan and Ann. Ken and Sheryl lived on the north shore of Fox Lake where they operated a registered Holstein dairy operation.

Sheryl was an active member of the Sherburn United Methodist Church, the Sherburn Mrs. Jaycees and the Martin County Dairy Association. She received the 1987 Minnesota Women for Agriculture award.

In 1996 Sheryl started working at Ag-Chem, later AGCO, in Jackson, MN. She retired from AGCO in 2014. Sheryl was the assistant cook at the Lakefield Senior Dining site from 2011-2025; through her work there she received the Lutheran Social Services Spirit Award in 2024.

In 1999 Sheryl moved to Lakefield, MN where she was a member of the United Methodist Church of Lakefield and the Windom Area Concert Association.

Sheryl dearly loved her family and enjoyed any opportunity to spend time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Ann (Brad) Henning; sons, Tim (Ramona) Hanson, Nathan (Miriam) Hanson; grandchildren, Mackenzie Henning, Samantha Henning, Isabelle Henning, Cassie Hanson, Lindsey Hanson, Dalton Hanson,Nolan Hanson; uncles and aunts, Norman and Myrna Anderson, Mary Westcott and Gary Kerg.

Sheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lois Anderson and her former husband, Kenneth Hanson.
