A Celebration of Life Service for Shirley Quade, age 95, of Storden, will be held on Sunday, March 29th, at 2:00 PM at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom. Burial will be held in the Jeffers Cemetery in Jeffers, Minnesota.

A visitation for Shirley will be held on Sunday, March 29th from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom.

Shirley Jeanne Quade was born on May 30, 1930, in Carthage, South Dakota, to James F. and Pearl M. (McCann) Dugan. She attended Westbrook Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1948. Shirley married Carl E. Quade on December 31, 1950, and together they raised two daughters, Sherri and Shelley. After living in rural Jeffers, the couple moved to their farm near Storden in 1963, where they built their family life. Carl preceded her in death in 1981.

Shirley remained on the farm following Carl's passing, embracing a life centered on home and family. She found joy in gardening, caring for her beloved cats, baking bread, and making her famous homemade dill pickles. She also enjoyed weekly shopping trips to Windom, reading, and staying connected to community events through the radio. Known for her angel food cake and chocolate cake with fudge frosting, Shirley took pride in decorating and preparing special meals for birthdays and on holidays. Her deep love for family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was evident to all. Independent, resourceful, and unwaveringly positive, Shirley remained in her home until her hospitalization in February. During her stay in the hospital, Shirley received compliments on her youthful and attractive appearance. She told the nurses "Pond's Cold Cream" was all she ever used.

Shirley was placed into hospice care at Ava's House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and passed away there on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at the age of 95 years.

Shirley is survived by her two daughters and their spouses, Sherri (Roger) Teig of Marshall; Shelley (Craig) Gades of Lake Benton; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Shawn (LeeAnn) Teig and their children, Jacob and Leah; Tracie (Brett) Malsom and their children, Garett, Dylan and Cole; Kimberly (Brandon) Caster; and Matthew Gades; and special cousin, Diane (Arlon) Ludvigson.

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Carl and parents, James and Pearl Dugan.
