A Celebration of Life Service to honor the life and legacy of Stan Sacks, age 85, of Windom, will be held at LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom on Wednesday, February 5th at 2:00 PM, with a time of visitation and gathering held prior to the service, from 12:30 to 2:00 PM. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Windom.
Stanford David "Stan" Sacks was born on February 14, 1939, to Sy and Grace (Chattelle) Sacks, in Pipestone, Minnesota. Stan was baptized at the United Methodist Church of Jasper, Minnesota and later confirmed. He attended Jasper High School, graduating in the class of 1958.
On September 30, 1961, Stan was united in marriage to Lora Mae Krapf at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jasper. The couple was blessed with four children, Jennifer, Jill, Todd and Jodi. In 1963, after the death of his father, Stan took over the operations of Sacks Super Saver grocery store in Jasper. He owned and operated the grocery store for ten years, before moving to Windom in 1973. After moving to Windom, he worked at Farm Bureau, and in 1982 he opened Stan Sacks Agency, where he worked until retiring in 2016.
Stan loved the outdoors and spent a great deal of time hunting and fishing. He and Lora enjoyed summers for 20 years on Nest Lake in Spicer, Minnesota. Stan enjoyed spending time with family and grandchildren.
Stan's health was declining, and he became a resident at the Good Samaritan Sogge Memorial in Windom, where he passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Jill (Dave) Harris of Plankinton, SD, and Jodi (Joel) Higley of Windom; six grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, Tom (Alli) Harris and son Gordon, Tye (Aspen) Harris and son Noah, T.J. Harris, Jordan (Brittany) Higley and children Olivia, Grayson and Eliana, Josie Mae (Scott) Schoneck and daughter Blair, and Jolyssa (Trenton) Halvorson; and his beloved cat, Smoker.
Stan was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Lora Sacks; daughter, Jennifer; infant son, Todd; his parents, Sy and Grace Sacks; and sister, Trudy Bombardier.
