A Celebration of Life service to honor the life and legacy of Sue Aden age 78, of Okabena, will be held at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Okabena on Friday, June 20th at 11:00 AM, with a time of visitation and gathering from 9:00 – 11:00 AM. A private family burial will be held at a later date. The service will be livestreamed on the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church YouTube channel.

Sue Aden passed away peacefully on Monday, May 19th at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorial donations in memory of Sue are preferred to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran School, Heron Lake Young Men's Club, or radio station "Life 96.5" in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Susan Lucille (Everetts) Aden was born on December 4, 1946, in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, to Eldon and Norma (Olson) Everetts. Sue passed away unexpectedly on May 19, 2025 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was surrounded by her family when the Lord called her home after suffering complications from a stroke.

Sue was a kindhearted, selfless wife, mother, grandma/nana, great-grandma, sister, and friend, who loved the Lord. She was baptized in infancy and confirmed in her youth in the Lutheran church. She was unwavering in her faith in God. She walked the life of a Christian. Sue graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids and continued her education at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, where she earned a bachelor's degree in education.

On June 22, 1974, Sue was united in marriage to Dale Aden. The couple was blessed with three wonderful children, Kristina, Matthew and Noelle, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild whom they loved dearly and built beautiful memories with. Sue attended every event she could to watch her grandchildren in sports, dance, and music. She loved playing games, golfing, cooking, solving Wordle and doing puzzles with her children and grandchildren.

Sue was a beloved elementary teacher, who poured her heart into her work. She was the favorite teacher of many kids, everyone wanted to be in Mrs. Aden's classroom. They all loved her reading loft. Sue always put others first and genuinely enjoyed visiting with past students and learning about their life paths. She fostered great friendships with her "teacher friends" and together they enjoyed many evenings eating out, going to the theater and celebrating birthdays.

Sue and Dale enjoyed their winters at Carriage Manor Resort in Mesa, Arizona for more than two decades. They met other "snowbirds" at Carriage Manor that blossomed into cherished, longtime friendships. While in Mesa, they enjoyed tennis league, hiking trails, playing cards, Mahjong and many other interests. She always made sure everyone was able to be involved no matter their abilities. Sue continued wintering in Mesa after Dale's passing.

Sue was a member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Okabena and was active in Women's Bible Study and Ladies Aide. Her other hobbies included quilting, reading and collecting recipes.

Sue's passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends and many more whose lives were touched by her. Left to cherish her memory are her children; Kris (Tim) Stark of Sioux Falls, Matt Aden of Lakefield, and Noelle(Danny) Bouavichith of Shakopee; eight grandchildren: Samantha Stark (Miles Kleinhesselink), Nicholas Stark (Analese Martinez), Blake Stark, Indianna and Emmett Aden, Kiayah, Ariannah and Keyanh Bouavichith; one great-grandchild, Addison; two sisters, Deborah (Steve) Peterson and Terri (Rick) Paulson; three sisters-in-law, Marlys (Vern) Westphal, Lois Ferguson and Ruth Dronen; as well as many relatives and dear friends.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Aden; parents, Norma and Eldon Everetts; parents-in-law, George and Evelyn Aden; and brother-in-law, Bob Dronen.
