Thelma Dick Korfe was born on March 13, 1929, in Amboy Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota to the late Albert F. and Bertha (Warmbier) DeVries. She was baptized at the Jeffers Baptist Church in rural Jeffers. Thelma received her education in the Windom Public Schools, graduating from Windom High School in the Class of 1946. She then attended for St. Paul Bible College for one year.
On, June 3, 1950, Thelma was united in marriage to Harry Dick at the First Mennonite Church in Mt. Lake. They had double wedding vows with Harry's sister, Clara Stoesz and her husband, Leander. After marriage, Thelma and Harry to live on the family farm until retirement. Thelma enjoyed her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also had several other enjoyments in life which included traveling and spending the past seventeen years with Harry wintering in Alamo, Texas; camping, fishing and playing the piano by ear for many years.
Harry passed away in April of 2007. After his death, Thelma continued to live on the family farm. Thelma was blessed to find love again when she met Clarence Korfe and they were married on October 29, 2016. At their ages, they lived life to the fullest and had great adventures together, including a train trip to Washington, DC and three winters in Texas. Clarence passed away on June 23, 2020.
In June of 2020, Thelma became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom where she passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2020 at the age of 91 years.
Thelma was a member of the First Baptist Church in Windom.
Thelma is survived by seven children, Judy Fruehling and her husband, Rodney, of Jeffers; Debra Caauwe of New Ulm; Connie Janssen and her husband, Rick, of Brainerd; Mark Dick and his wife, Lori, of Lafayette; Brenda Hershberger and her husband, Dan, of Webster; Kevin Dick and his wife, Miranda, of Anoka; Melanie Teachout and her husband, Jason, of Waseca; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Alberta Aldrich of Portland, OR; and many nieces and nephews.
Thelma is preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Harry Dick and Clarence Korfe; one grandson, Gavin Dick; one brother, Carl (Carol) DeVries, and one brother-in-law, Walter Aldrich.
