Obituary

Thomas "Tom" Joseph Jurgens was born on September 25, 1955, in Mankato, Minnesota; a blessing to the late Lyle E and Audrey Mae (Robinson) Jurgens. He was a lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where he received the sacraments of baptism, holy communion, and confirmation, and he served as a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus.

Tom grew up in Windom and attended Highland and Winfair Elementary Schools, and in the fifth grade he went to Wilder Elementary School, before transferring back to Windom Public Schools. He graduated from Windom Area High School.

On October 25, 1980, Tom was united in marriage to Edith "Edie" Follen. The marriage was blessed with two children, Fallon and Brady. The family lived on the family farm. Tom farmed all his life and worked at the U.S. Post Office for 21 years. He served as a Road Supervisor for Great Bend Township since November 2010.

Tom loved farming, hunting, and fishing. He enjoyed drinking Budweiser with his buddies and hanging out in his shop. Tom was a Gunsmoke fan, but most of all he loved time with the grandchildren.

Left to cherish Tom's memory are his wife of 42 years, Edie Jurgens of Windom; two children, Fallon (Matthew "Chrometop") Guazzo of Storden and Brady Jurgens of Windom; 6 grandchildren, Anthony, Jack, Hayden, Isaac, Audrey and Jaxon; siblings, Jolaine (Bill) Mielke of Windom, Greg (Darla) Jurgens of Windom, Mary Nierenhausen of Cold Springs, Scott (Lisa) Hammett of Madison Lake, Jim (Julie) Hammett of Janesville and Brian (Stacy) Hammett of Janesville; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Audrey & Lyle Jurgens and David & Marylin Hammett; in-laws, Joe & Flo Follen; and sisters, Vickie Schnepf and Debbie Brandmire.

Blessed be the memory of Tom Jurgens.
