Vernon Robert Dehmlow was born on January 16th, 1931, in Cottonwood, Minnesota to the late Kenneth Eugene Dehmlow and Lena Christianson. He received his early education in country schools in southwest Minnesota until eighth grade when he went to work. He later received his GED in 1978, when he was hired by the University of Minnesota. Vern was united in marriage to Julene Valoris Tews on October 8th, 1950. This union was blessed with five children, Lois, Gary, Don, Dave, and Brad. After marriage, Vern and Julene lived in Comfrey, Springfield, and New Ulm before moving to Worthington Minnesota. Vern worked at Terrace Park and Blue Bunny dairies delivering milk and then at Armours meat-packing plant. In 1978 they moved to White Bear Lake, Minnesota where Vern worked at the University of Minnesota until he retired. Vern went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 18th, 2021 while receiving hospice care at St. Gertrudes in Shakopee, MN. Vern loved God deeply and was devoted to his wife and family. He laughed and cried easily, loved to tease, and was always willing to sacrifice in order to care for his family. He was a true friend, a hard worker, and unafraid to speak his mind. Vern is survived by his wife of seventy-one years, Julene Dehmlow of Lake Elmo, MN; four children, Gary (Ruby) Dehmlow of Woodbury, MN; Don (Karen) Dehmlow of Forest Lake MN; Dave (Patricia) Dehmlow of Spooner WI; and Brad (Nancy) Dehmlow of Butternut WI and by 19 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He is survived by his brothers Kenneth and Rod Dehmlow; Jerry, Mike, and Leroy Gibson and sisters Becky Millea and Beverly Evans, by sister-in-law Jan Dehmlow and by numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Vern is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Lois McNeal; his brothers Pat Gibson, Harvey Gibson, Don (Duck) Dehmlow, and Eugene Gibson; and by his sisters Bonnie and Billie. The family will receive relatives and friends during visitation, which will be held on Wednesday, December 22nd beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Center Point Church in Mountain Lake MN. A funeral service to celebrate Vern's life will be held at 1:00 p.m., with the Reverend Gary Dehmlow officiating. A luncheon will follow immediately after the service at the church with burial at 3:00 p.m at Windom Memorial Gardens on Hwy 71 in Windom, MN.
