A Celebration of Life Service to honor the life and legacy of Victor Pohlman, age 82, of Lakefield, will be held Thursday, October 31st at 10:31 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, north of Lakefield, with Pastor Dale Hedstrom officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, north of Lakefield.

A time of visitation and gathering will be held on Wednesday, October 30th from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, north of Lakefield. Visitation will continue at the church on Thursday, October 31st for one hour prior to the service. The service will be livestreamed on the church's Facebook page.

Victor William Pohlman was born on the family farm on November 8, 1941, to Walter and Verna (Winkel) Pohlman. He was baptized on November 30, 1941, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, attended its parochial school through 8th grade, and professed his faith in the Rite of Confirmation on April 3, 1955. He attended Lakefield High School, where he was involved in band, choir, madrigals, the glee club, class plays, thespians, the Moccasin, speech, FFA, photography, and the annual staff, graduating in 1959 as an honor student. Victor was involved in the Heron Landers 4-H club, where he was elected to many offices while a member and received the 4-H Key Award. He was also active in Walther League and met his future bride Geraldine Leistico at a gathering. Years later, "Gerry" moved to Lakefield as a Deaconess for Immanuel Lutheran Church. They were married on June 28, 1964.

He was a lifelong farmer of the farm he was born on and signed verification of the century farm status with single-family ownership in 1991. He had many interests off the farm, including square dancing with the Turkey Trotters, serving as Heron Lake Township treasurer for 40 years, teaching basic life support, and being a member of the Lakefield Ambulance team. He was a member of the Jackson County CB club, sold seed corn and soybeans, served on the Phenix Board in the development of a soybean material to be used in building, was a member of the North Heron Lake Game Producers Association (NHLGPA), and developed an interest in Ukrainian egg decorating. This passion also led to teaching the craft in community education classes. He started helping his wife with detailed quilting projects and enjoyed creating machine-embroidered keepsakes. Victor remained active at St. Peter Lutheran church throughout his life, often serving as a church officer, Sunday School superintendent, and usher. He also served as an officer for Aid Association for Lutherans (later renamed Thrivent), organizing many functions and helping to earn Gold Star membership for the chapter multiple times.

Victor Pohlman passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 24th at Lakeview Assisted Living in Heron Lake.

Victor is survived by his wife of 60 years, Geraldine; daughters Rebecca (special friend Dave) of Coon Rapids, MN, and Rachel (John) of Topeka, KS; sisters Bonnie (Felix) of Des Plaines, IL, and Marlene (Dana) of Osage, IA, four nieces, a great-nephew, and two great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his Parents and Grandparents.
