Virgil Marvin Nickel was born, November 14, 1943, to Marvin and Effie (Graff) Nickel in Springfield, Minnesota and died peacefully on December 14, 2021, at the St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield, Minnesota. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jill (Flaig) Nickel; 3 children, Todd (Lisa) Nickel; Amy (Eric) Wetter; Becky (Jake) Barlow; 9 grandchildren, Brady, Kaylee and Cody Nickel; Zachary, McKenzie, Samuel and Susannah Wetter; Raegan and Blake Barlow; 2 sisters, Shirley (Dean) McNeal; Audrey (Gary) Jorgensen; and 2 brothers, Marlow (Marilyn) Nickel; David (Janis) Nickel; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Effie Nickel and grandson, Micah Wetter. Snowmobiling, golfing, pool, playing cards and line dancing were among some of his favorite activities throughout the years. He was also involved in many community organizations and served on numerous boards. He enjoyed farm life ever since he was a young boy, milking the cows, working the fields and being outdoors. He farmed for all of his life, wishing it would never end.
