Wallace "Wally"
Minion
Jun 20, 1943 — May 14, 2024
A Celebration of Life Graveside Service for Wallace "Wally" Minion, age 80, of Brandon, SD, formerly of Bingham Lake, will be held Monday, May 20th at 11:00 AM at Lakeview Cemetery in Windom with Pastor Dan Hormig officiating. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post #206 of Windom. Lunch will follow at LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom. Wallace R. "Wally" Minion was born June 20, 1943, in Windom, to Richard and Avis Minion. He was welcomed home to the family farm in Delton Township by an older brother where he grew up. Wally attended Jeffers School, graduating in 1961. Serving in the army from 1964 to 1966, he then embarked on a career at UPS, where he dedicated over 30 years of service. On February 3, 1968, he married Sybil "Syb" at the First Methodist Church in Lakefield, MN. Their union was blessed with four children. In 1974, they settled on their farm in Delton Township, fulfilling Wally's lifelong dream of owning and farming his own land. They resided there until 2023.
Wally was a very private man who would be uncomfortable with a long list of his life achievements. He would say he deeply loved God, his family, farming his own land, hunting when he could, and his good friends. His family would add that he also loved making lists. Wally was a strong supporter of the right to keep and bear arms. One of his favorite Bible verses was Joshua 1:9, "Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest."
On Tuesday, May 14, 2024, Wally was welcomed to his heavenly home. He passed away peacefully under hospice care at his home in Brandon, South Dakota.
He leaves behind his grateful family: his wife, Syb; children, Roy Minion (Libby) of Mead, Washington, Heather (Randy) Anderton of Rochester, MN, Luke (Betsy) Minion of Sioux Falls, SD, and Shannon (Jon) Whitehead of Sherburn, MN; 12 grandchildren, Chelsea (Drew) Perkins, Leah Anderton, Davis (Madi) Anderton, Rylea Minion, Wyatt (Abby) Minion, Rachel Minion, Jake, Marissa, and Caitlin Whitehead, and Landon, Lauren, and Claire Minion; and a special nephew, Jim (Katy) Minion, and their sons, Isaac and Levi Minion.
Blessed be the memory of Wally Minion.
