Wanda Marie Strunk, formerly of Windom Minnesota, age 89, passed away on November 14, 2024, in Reno Nevada. Born on February 22, 1935, in Eunice, Louisiana. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her southern roots and family values.
Wanda met her late husband, Arthur Strunk Jr, of Windom Minnesota during a dance at the USO club, sponsored by the Air Force base near Lake Charles, Louisiana. They were married on June 8th, 1957. They relocated to Minnesota in 1958. After living in Owatonna and Minneapolis, MN, the young couple settled in Art's hometown, Windom, MN. While Art worked as a police officer and volunteer firefighter, Wanda cared for their growing family and home. After Art passed away in 1968, Wanda stayed in Windom to raise their 3 children.
Wanda made significant contributions during her employment at Windom Coop, Driftwood Supper Club, Cottonwood County Home Health, and Soggie (Good Samaritan) Home, bringing warmth, compassion, and efficiency to every role she undertook.
A devout member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Windom, Minnesota, Wanda's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was actively involved in her church - teaching CCD, prayer groups, and Eucharistic Minister. Her southern hospitality, kindness, and class were evident in how she hosted holiday gatherings, backyard barbeques, and was always there to lend a helping hand to her friends and family. Wanda was famous for her yummy potato salad (always a party favorite), her smile, and infectious laugh.
An avid reader, Wanda's love for storytelling, especially to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, was profound. Her expressive readings were cherished moments for her entire family.
Wanda is survived by her daughters, Donna Harkins and Lisa (Darren) Falk; son, Mark (Shelley) Strunk; grandchildren, Sarah Crosby, Danielle (Jesse) Owen, David Harkins, Rachel (John) Falck, Rebekah Kelley, Reba Strunk, Matthew Strunk, Samuel Falk, and Luis Falk; and great-grandchildren, Haylei Owen, Lucus Owen, Wesley Kelley, and Weylin Falck. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur R. Strunk, Jr.; her parents, Delus and Elizabeth Hebert; brothers, Lou, Linday, Allen, Evan, Willard, and Del Jr; sisters, Thelma Trouard, and Elta Warner (Tot).
Wanda will be missed now and forever. She set a path for all of us to follow. May she rest in peace.
