Obituary

Wayne A. Bennett was born February 27, 1926 the fifth child of Roy and Ida (McDonald) Bennett. In 1944, he was one of seven men drafted out of Windom High School and Wayne went to Minneapolis to enlist in the United States Navy. He was stationed in the Philippines at the end of the war and received his diploma from Windom High School when he returned. Wayne married Jeanette I. Arntson on April 16, 1950 and together they raised their two children and started farming with his dad on the Hartman farm near Bergen, Minnesota. They spent time in California for two years and returned to Minnesota to farm at the Pete Velve Farm where he enjoyed a lifelong career farming. Jean passed away in 2002 and on August 16, 2003 Wayne married Lucille Karschnik. He enjoyed fishing, camping, golfing, playing cards and dart ball at church, numerous games of Rolle Bolle along with watching many sports. He was a dedicated and loving grandpa and great-grandpa and loved spending time with family. He was a proud usher at church and a longtime member of the Cemetery board. His work ethic and talents on the farm will be remembered and his gift of patience will be cherished by many.
