Wayne Dobson "Dober II" was born in Windom on February 8, 1945, to Floran "Dober" and Beulah (Flisher) Dobson who loved him and his sister LaVonne (age 6). 12 years later Julie joined the family in 1957. Wayne suffered a severe brain injury at the time of his birth and the family cared for him at home until the age of 7. Through the years he moved to care facilities in Faribault and Willmar MN and back to Windom in the 1980s, after the passing of his father to be close to his mother. Julie recalls frequent trips in the early years to visit him where they had a travel trailer parked on a farm near Faribault. Once in Windom, a family friend (Mary Bogle) encouraged Beulah to become a foster grandparent at the Home for Creative Living where Wayne found his home. The two were united regularly. Wayne enjoyed ice cream, oreo cookies, cotton candy, music and spending time in the community. Lynn Brandt who is employed at Home For Creative Living took a special interest in him and his friend Dan "Cowboy" and won a state award for her work with the two. She kept Julie and Wayne connected and got him out in the world. He made out of town trips to such places as the circus in Sioux Falls where he got his caricature done annually. He attended a Garth Brooks concert and visited the Vikings during their spring training where he met the cheerleaders. Wayne had few words of which were "Ma" for his mother, "Ing" for Lynn, and "Koy" was his word for JOY. At home, Wayne especially enjoyed music and would sit and listen for hours. Wayne is preceded in death by his father Floran, his mother Beulah and sister LaVonne O'Neill and survived by his sister Julie Dobson Miner of Forest Lake, MN.
