Wayne Alvin Reinken was born on June 28, 1952, to Alvin and Joyce (Beerman) Reinken. He grew up in Worthington, MN. Wayne enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam. There he was exposed to Agent Orange. Upon returning home from the war, Wayne married, and the union blessed him with two wonderful children, Paul and Kristy. That marriage was later dissolved. In 1986, Wayne married the love of his life, Kathleen Flaherty. Wayne and Kathleen met in Las Vegas, Nevada, and ironically, they were both were born and raised in Minnesota. While living in Las Vegas, Wayne worked as a security officer for a casino. His dream was to become a police officer. After marrying, the couple decided to move back to Minnesota to be closer to Wayne's parents in their retirement. After moving to Windom, Wayne worked at Toro for many years. Wayne had many hobbies. Once he built a boat and put it in his sister-in-law's pool to make sure that it didn't leak. He was Santa Clause at family gatherings, and he loved riding his motorcycle. Wayne went to gun smith school after serving in the US Air Force, and he learned to make guns and fireworks. Wayne lived the last several years in nursing homes. He had such a positive outlook and loved life. On November 9, 2021, Wayne passed away at Avantara Norton Nursing Home in Sioux falls, SD, at the age of 69 years. Wayne is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 35 years, Kathleen; two children, Kristy Giles of Utah and Paul Reinken of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren; Hunter Reinken , Caleb Giles and Ammon Giles. sister, Janet (Rick) Hernandis; brother, Alan Reinken; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Joyce Reinken; brother, Larry Reinken; and nephew, Joseph Neuenfeld.
