William "Bill" Fisher, 87, of Windom passed away March 7, 2020 at the Good Samaritan In Windom. He was born March 6, 1933 in Ayrshire, Iowa to Harold and Marie (Smith) Fisher. Bill attended Sacred Heart and graduated Ayrshire High School. He served his country with the United States Army for two years as a surveyor and returned home. On April 14, 1956 Bill married Shirley O'Connor at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Estherville and together raised their 5 children. Bill was a dedicated farmer for almost 60 years. He began farming in Iowa early in life and in the mid 1980's moved to Minnesota. Bill was also a leader in the area for handicapped children. Bill's hard work ethic in farming, showed just as passionate with him educating communities, schools and other families with resources for handicapped children, which lead to workshops and school programs in the area. Bill was awarded high honors from the Governor of Iowa for his efforts in supporting handicapped children. With family and farming filling most of Bill's time early in life, he was able to find a new hobby later in life for his llamas. For many years he raised and showed award-winning Llamas at local fairs and the Minnesota State Fair. Bill drove his team of llamas in parades across southern Minnesota, was proud to show them off and took great care of his llama family. He became known as the "Llama Man", by always talking about them and turning one question into a whole hour long conversation about llamas to whomever asked! He is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Shirley; son, Steve (Wanda Nelson) Fisher of Lakefield and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; children, David, Paul, Daniel and Cindy; brother, Ronald (JoAnn) Fisher.
