Kaleb LaCanne became a licensed funeral director in February 2025, after graduating with a degree in Mortuary Science from Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC). Having grown up in his family's funeral care business, he gained early hands-on experience in all aspects of service. These formative years instilled in him a deep respect for the profession and a strong desire to support families duirng life's most difficult moments.
Kaleb is passionate about funeral service and strives to make a meaningful difference for every family he serves. Known for his kindness, availability, and calming presence, he is committed to helping others feel seen, heard, and cared for. Kaleb remains dedicated to being there when families need him most.
Outside of work, Kaleb enjoys spending time with his fiance, Rachel, and their dog, Piper. A liflong sports enthusiast, Kaleb loves golfing and cheering on all things Minnesota, including the Vikings, Twins, Timberwolves and Wild. Kaleb values being active in the business community, serving on the Chamber of Commerce board, and he takes pride in seeing the area grow and thrive.

Jennifer Holm is a dedicated funeral director whose interest for her profession began early in life. Growing up around her family's funeral home, she found comfort and peace in the environment, influenced deeply by her father, uncle, and stepfather, who all worked as morticians. At an early age, Jennifer knew she wanted to follow in their footsteps. Today, she finds purpose in helping families find closure, guiding them through the most difficult times with compassion and care.
Her favoriate aspect of the profession is embaling, where science meets artistry to create a lasting, peaceful image for loved ones to remember. Jennifer values the lasting impact her work has on individuals and the broader community. While the job comes with challenges, like navigating Minnesota's complex regulations, unpredictable hours, and the emotional demands, it's a calling she is proud to answer. Outside of work, she's a devoted mom to Talan and Ellie, shares her home with two dogs, Zena and Duke, and holds close her faith, family, work family, and personal wellness. Jennifer's connections to the Jackson community are instrumental in her work with the families we serve.

At an early age, Jennifer knew she wanted to follow in their footsteps. Today, she finds purpose in helping families find closure, guiding them through the most difficult times with compassion and care.
Her favoriate aspect of the profession is embaling, where science meets artistry to create a lasting, peaceful image for loved ones to remember. Jennifer values the lasting impact her work has on individuals and the broader community. While the job comes with challenges, like navigating Minnesota's complex regulations, unpredictable hours, and the emotional demands, it's a calling she is proud to answer. Diana Madsen
Office Manager - Windom
Diana joined LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center as the Office Manager in October 2020 and supports many facets of the organization. She oversees marketing, accounts payable and receivable, website management, and works closely with families to create personalized memorial materials, including custom stationery and tribute videos. Diana also assists with filing vital records and continually seeks opportunities to improve efficiencies and strengthen business operations.
She earned a bachelor's degree in Communication and Business from the University of St. Thomas and has built her career around marketing, communications, wellness, and community development in both the for-profit and nonprofit sectors.
Originally from Lakeville, Minnesota, Diana moved to the Heron Lake area in 1997 after marrying her husband, Michael. Together they raised three children on their family farm, where she also remains involved in the family's farming and seed business. Her strong ties to southwest Minnesota and commitment to the community are reflected in both her professional and volunteer work.
Outside of the office, Diana enjoys spending time at the lake with family and friends, traveling, and volunteering.

Karson LaCanne is the son of Joel and Shannon LaCanne. Karson has been working as a Funeral Assistant at the funeral home for the past couple of years. June and her husband, Dennis, were married in 1975 and live north of Lakefield. Living on a century farm, they raised dairy cattle, hogs, crops and 4 children. In the early 1990’s, a dairy herd disease forced Dennis and June to sell the cattle and they transitioned from milking to building cabinets, where June assisted with all facets of the business.
In 2021, June retired from a 30-year nursing career to spend more time with her 9 grandchildren and to care for Dennis. In her tenure, she worked in home health care, in an assisted living center, clinics in both Lakefield and Windom, and at Windom Area Hospital. Before retirement, June worked at the Spirit Lake Veterans Clinic.

Joseph "Joe" LaCanne

Joe and Barb LaCanne began helping at the funeral home when Joel first became the owner in 2003. Joe came to Windom in the fall of 1969 after earning an education degree in visual arts and art history from St. Ed’s in Texas, the Art Institute in Cleveland Ohio, Indiana State University at Terre Haute, the University of Notre Dame at South Bend, Indiana, and Mankato State University in Mankato, MN.
Barb came to Windom in the fall of 1970 after earning an education degree in elementary and special education at Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD. They met while teaching in Windom and were married in 1972. They are the parents of three children: Joel (Shannon) LaCanne, Jeffrey (Jeanna) LaCanne, and Mary (Ray) Iliff. They also have six grandchildren.
Joe and Barb are both retired from teaching. Joe retired in May of 2001 after having taught 37 years and Barb retired in June of 2005 after 35 years of teaching. Joe continues to help at the funeral home and continues with his hobbies of stained glass artwork, and working in mixed media. Barb continues to do substitute teaching and fills in whenever needed at the funeral home. Both Joe and Barb enjoy spending time with their children and families and they both spend time volunteering in the church, school, and community.

Archie is our faithful Therapy Dog. Archie was born on October 2, 2019. In March 2020, he completed an intensive Therapy K-9 Training with Ultimate Canine in Westfield, IN. Through this training, Archie learned specific commands of obedience. He follows basic commands such as, sit, stay, place, and heel, and he can be commanded to quickly transition from an excited state to a calm state, to snuggle, give knuckles and he can often be found laying at the feet of grieving families.
Archie is an Australian Labradoodle. He reports to work most every day, and with family approval, he attends visitations and funerals to comfort families. Archie follows a strict diet and has a sensitive stomach, so feeding Archie or giving treats is discouraged. Archie lives with Joel and Shannon LaCanne’s family. When he is not working, he enjoys fishing, playing with his cat friends and sleeping

At an early age, Jennifer knew she wanted to follow in their footsteps. Today, she finds purpose in helping families find closure, guiding them through the most difficult times with compassion and care.
Her favoriate aspect of the profession is embaling, where science meets artistry to create a lasting, peaceful image for loved ones to remember. Jennifer values the lasting impact her work has on individuals and the broader community. While the job comes with challenges, like navigating Minnesota's complex regulations, unpredictable hours, and the emotional demands, it's a calling she is proud to answer. Outside of work, she's a devoted mom to Talan and Ellie, shares her home with two dogs, Zena and Duke, and holds close her faith, family, work family, and personal wellness. Jennifer's connections to the Jackson community are instrumental in her work with the families we serve.

Diana grew up in Lakeville, Minnesota and moved to the Heron Lake area in 1997, when she married her husband, Michael. She continually seeks ways to streamline and improve business procceses within the organization.

Karson LaCanne is the son of Joel and Shannon LaCanne. Karson has been working as a Funeral Assistant at the funeral home for the past couple of years. Not only will you find him assisting with funerals and visitations, he also helps with a variety of projects at our two locations and always helps with a smile on his face. Karson will graduate from Windom Area High School in 2024 and plans to seek a degree in Mortuary Science and continue working with the family business.

June and her husband, Dennis, were married in 1975 and live north of Lakefield. Living on a century farm, they raised dairy cattle, hogs, crops and 4 children. In the early 1990’s, a dairy herd disease forced Dennis and June to sell the cattle and they transitioned from milking to building cabinets, where June assisted with all facets of the business.

Gayle and Monte have been married for 33 ears. They have 2 sons, 1 daughter and 7 grandchildren whom they love to spend time with and spoil. They also have many grand-dogs and cats. She and Monte love motorcycling and spending time in their RV. They have visited 40 states together and look forward to many more adventures.

He has also been an EMT and Firefighter with the Jackson Fire Department for 34 years.
Since retiring, Monte has returned to working for Bob’s Fleet on a part-time basis, as well as continuing to help a farm-family south of Jackson. Monte has been married to Gayle for 33 years. Together they have 2 sons, 1 daughter, and 7 grandchildren. In their free time, Monte and Gayle enjoy taking trips on their motorcycle and have visited 40 states.

Joseph "Joe" LaCanne

Joe and Barb LaCanne began helping at the funeral home when Joel first became the owner in 2003. Joe came to Windom in the fall of 1969 after earning an education degree in visual arts and art history from St. Ed’s in Texas, the Art Institute in Cleveland Ohio, Indiana State University at Terre Haute, the University of Notre Dame at South Bend, Indiana, and Mankato State University in Mankato, MN.
Barb came to Windom in the fall of 1970 after earning an education degree in elementary and special education at Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD. They met while teaching in Windom and were married in 1972. They are the parents of three children: Joel (Shannon) LaCanne, Jeffrey (Jeanna) LaCanne, and Mary (Ray) Iliff. They also have six grandchildren.
Joe and Barb are both retired from teaching. Joe retired in May of 2001 after having taught 37 years and Barb retired in June of 2005 after 35 years of teaching. Joe continues to help at the funeral home and continues with his hobbies of stained glass artwork, and working in mixed media. Barb continues to do substitute teaching and fills in whenever needed at the funeral home. Both Joe and Barb enjoy spending time with their children and families and they both spend time volunteering in the church, school, and community.

Archie is our faithful Therapy Dog. Archie was born on October 2, 2019. In March 2020, he completed an intensive Therapy K-9 Training with Ultimate Canine in Westfield, IN. Through this training, Archie learned specific commands of obedience. He follows basic commands such as, sit, stay, place, and heel, and he can be commanded to quickly transition from an excited state to a calm state, to snuggle, give knuckles and he can often be found laying at the feet of grieving families.
Archie is an Australian Labradoodle. He reports to work most every day, and with family approval, he attends visitations and funerals to comfort families. Archie follows a strict diet and has a sensitive stomach, so feeding Archie or giving treats is discouraged. Archie lives with Joel and Shannon LaCanne’s family. When he is not working, he enjoys fishing, playing with his cat friends and sleeping
